INT. BEDROOM – DAY

A cellphone on the night stand sounds off the alarm. Kora, a wife and a mother of two in her early thirties, sleepily retrieves the phone to turn the sound off.

Upon looking at the time, she passively gives out a sigh and sits up on the bed. On the other side of the bed, she sees the used pillow and sheets, and runs her hand through them. She notices a post-it note on the opposite night stand that reads: “See you when I see you. Give kids my kisses.”

CUT TO:

INT. BEDROOM – MOMENTS LATER

Wrapped in a towel, Kora opens up their closet and browses through the well-hung dresses and what seem to be pilot’s uniforms. Finally, she chooses a simple top and some shorts.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN – LATER

Kora is frying eggs while her six-year old son and younger daughter are on the kitchen counter/table having breakfast cereals. The son is vigorously playing with his toy soldiers, while the daughter is busy on her coloring book.

INT. KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS

The child gives out a shrieking sound and starts to immediately cry

LEYLA

Mommy!!!

Kora was so startled that she nearly dropped the plate of eggs when she was about to turn around and serve.

Her son’s bowl of milk and cereal is spilling all over the counter/table and over her daughter’s coloring book. He is laughing and keeps playing with the mess.

KORA

Vans, that’s enough! What an early morning mess, and you ruined your sister’s book. Say sorry, now.

Vans flicks a cereal towards Leyla and speaks to her mockingly.

VANS

Thoweee Weywaaa

Leyla starts to cry even harder.

CUT TO:

EXT. POOL – CONTINUOUS

Kora Carries her daughter and luggs her son towards the poolside

KORA

Okay, that’s it, everybody outside so that I can work in peace!

Kora situates her daughter on the edge of the pool with her legs in the pool staircase. Kora gives her daughter a mechanical fish toy.

KORA

Here you go, sweetie.

(To Vans)

No dessert for you tonight, young man.

Leyla secretly puts out her tongue to his brother and Vans is sour-faced.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN – MOMENTS LATER

Kora turns on the television and the weather report is on the background playing while she starts cleaning up the mess.

A few moments later, her phone alarm goes off and she grabs her phone and clicks it off.

She opens up a kitchen drawer and gets out a pill bottle prescription and puts it on the counter as she turns and goes to get a glass of water.

TV NEWS REPORTER

Thank you for the weather Ken…Shocking and breaking news just now everyone, as there have been an airplane that crashed right into ______ Gulf…

Worried, Kora puts down her glass of water and turns up the television volume.

TV NEWS REPORTER

Initial footage of the crash site reveals that a local airline supposedly bound for ______ earlier had trouble maintaining takeoff…

Aerial shot of the plane wreckage is seen and the tail end of the plane is sticking out of the water.

Kora gasps, as she seems to recognize the plane’s logo and immediately grabs her phone and dials frantically.

CUT TO:

EXT. OUTDOOR POOL – CONTINUOUS

Leyla’s rubber ducky slips from her grip and floats farther away at the center of the pool. She stands up and walks by the side of the pool and tries to reach for it, loses her balance and disappears under water.

TV NEWS REPORTER

(O.C.)

The local authorities are doing all they can for a faster rescue operation. But so far, no sign of life…

Playing nearby, Vans hears her sister struggling and runs towards her to try and reach her hand.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN – CONTINUOUS

Kora is still on the phone, panicked, and re-dialing until the line went through. She shakily picks up her glass of water and drinks a little bit.

KORA

Hello. Yes. I’m the wife of Captain Jimmy Cruz, I would like to know if he was on the flight…the flight that just crashed—what do you mean you don’t know?

VANS

(O.C.)

Moooom! Help! Mooom!

KORA

Well okay, you do that. It’s okay, I’ll hold!

Vans is running towards her mother, wet and in a panicked daze.

VANS

Mom! She’s underwater! Can’t reach her!

CUT TO:

EXT. OUTDOOR POOL – CONTINUOUS

Kora is running and immediately jumps into the pool and retrieves her daughter and lays her down on the poolside trying to resuscitate her.

KORA

Oh my God! Baby, wake up! Leyla I’m sorry! Wake up, please…I’m—

(Kora grabs her chest in pain and collapses beside her daughter)

Kora is pointing towards the kitchen.

(To Vans)

KORA
(In between breaths)

My. Med…get. My…

Vans, in a stroke of realization, runs and disappears inside the kitchen.

CUT TO:

INT. KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS

Vans quickly looks around and spots the prescription bottle. Grabs it and runs outside.

CUT TO:

EXT. POOLSIDE - CONTINUOUS

Vans sits beside his mother, but he is struggling to open the bottle’s child-safe cap.

CUT TO:

EXT. FRONT DOOR – MOMENTS LATER

Jimmy keys in the door and goes inside.

JIMMY

Kora? Flight got cancelled, terrible news today, have you heard about the plane that swam with the fishes? Hey, guys?

He hears someone sobbing outside.

Leyla, is that you?
